Side Effects Game is a 2–8 player card game in which players aim to discard all their Disorder cards by playing matching Medications — but every drug can create its own Side Effects!
The goal of Side Effects Game
Be the first player to eliminate all your Disorder cards by treating them with the correct Medication cards.
Card Types
- Disorders: Conditions such as Depression, Anxiety, Insomnia, and more.
- Medications: Used to treat Disorders but they often generate Side Effects.
- Side Effects: Triggered when you take a Medication — these must be cured as well.
- Cure Cards: Special cards that remove Side Effects or let you change cards in hand.
- Action Cards: Play these to disrupt opponents, defend yourself, or shift the game balance.
Side Effects Gameplay
- Each player starts with four Disorder cards.
- On your turn, draw one card from the deck.
- If you have a Medication that matches a Disorder in your hand, play it to treat that Disorder.
- When you play a Medication, resolve any Side Effects it produces.
- Deal with those Side Effects immediately, or use a Cure or special card to eliminate them.
- The first player to have no Disorder cards left wins!
Note
- Some Medications can cure multiple Disorders — plan your moves carefully.
- Playing several Medications at once can create multiple Side Effects you’ll need to handle.
- Use Action cards to confuse or attack other players, forcing extra Disorders or Side Effects on them.
